Books and magazines but also exercise books, pads and envelopes: wood, the basic material for paper production, is one of the most important renewable raw materials in our society. Sound forest stewardship therefore plays a pivotal role in ensuring that it will also be available in future.
As a leading international manufacturer of office and school products, Herlitz considers itself to have a particular responsibility in this area. Herlitz achieved Forest Stewardship Council ("FSC") certification in 2008 as a manufacturer of paper, office and writing materials.
FSC certification allows Herlitz to ensure that the raw materials it uses – from the cultivation of the tree to selection of paper and production – exclusively originate from responsibly managed forests. FSC certification therefore ensures that the company acts in an environmentally-responsible manner.
The company’s entire branded exercise book range and exercise books from well-known licensed series carry the FSC seal. Herlitz expanded the range with FSC items. Exercise books in the EA Sports™ licensed series (new in 2010) are manufactured from FSC-certified paper.
In addition to paper products FSC certification was also prepared for wood items in 2009. The coloured and graphite pencil range from FSC-certified wood will be available from 2010.
The certificate can be checked under the number SCS-COC-001757 at www.fsc-info.org.
